Attention Mural-ers: We have good news.
After many requests for a drawing feature, we’re happy to announce that Mural.ly now allows you to sketch your ideas out on sticky notes (and we’re pretty excited about it).
Sketching out your ideas is good for lots of reasons. To name a few:
1. Visual thinkers sketch! We understand this well at Mural.ly, most of us are sketch-ers ourselves. We wanted to open up the opportunity for everyone to share their ideas in a more natural, more visual way, because that’s what we’re all about.
2. Sketching increases our understanding. Our brains are naturally very good at processing images because we do it almost constantly. Therefore, we retain images far easier than we retain words. Another big plus for doodling. In fact, Inbound Marketing says, “90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual, and visuals are processed 60,000X faster in the brain than text.”
3. Sketching improves synthesis (especially when we do it on post-its). When we represent our ideas visually and are forced to consolidate our ideas into a limited space, we have to boil them down to the most fundamentally important parts. So sketching actually helps us to refine what it is we want to do, and how we want to communicate it.
With all this in mind, you now have the option to express your thoughts and ideas with not only multimedia from the internet and your computer, but with your own sketches as well.
How do I use it?
Place a sticky note on your Mural (the same way you’ve been doing that all along), and you’ll see that on the top left hand side of the menu, you have a new option that looks like this:
Click the “Draw” button and sketch away!
Now you can go back to Mural.ly and try it out yourself.
