The first ever global virtual design sprint was generated from a simple thesis: If design sprints work well with everyone in the same room, could that same success be achieved in a virtual environment?
Live from Mural HQ: Design Studio Session
Last Friday we decided to carry out a new Design Studio session involving the entire MURAL team.
We start each session defining a problem to later set a “design challenge” based on insights gathered from our users - online support, usability tests, interviews.
We split into two cross-functional teams and although it can be intense and chaotic at times, we know how powerful and effective these sessions can be.
True value resides in the way so many actionable ideas come up within the first hour of most collaborative design sessions.
Cross-functional teams bring knowledge from different backgrounds and mind frames. After dozens of ideas are shot down in sketches, each team selects one idea to iterate and make it evolve. At the end of the day, the whole group gathers again and defines which solutions will be implemented.
We work. We have fun. We learn from each other. Sometimes we fight and sometimes we end up having more questions than answers. But we never stop.
